Creative Critical Reflection
- How does your product use or challenge conventions AND how does it represent social groups or issues?
My product which is Gatorade is filmed with a genre of action. It is made for athletes to use when they are in the field. It represents the social issue of gender equality by being available to athletes of any gender.
2. How does your product engage with audiences AND how would it be distributed as a real media text?
My product engages its target audience of athletes by giving them the promise of more energy and better hydration when they are performing their sport. Gatorade is distributed in several retail stores worldwide and can also be found in the concession stands of sporting events.
- How did your production skills develop throughout this project?
At the beginning of the project I had never filmed a professional video and had little knowledge on how to do so. As I continued to work on this project, I learned how to use a video camera, how to position it at certain angles, and how to place it on a tri-pod. I also improved my skills in editing. I learned how to add transitions, how to add a split screen, and how to record and add a voiceover to a video.
- How did you integrate technologies – software, hardware and online – in this project?
In this project I hardware such as a camera to film my video, a tripod to hold the camera, an SD card to hold the footage taken by the camera, a USB to transfer the footage from the SD card to the computer, and a computer to use software to edit my video. I used software such as an editing platform to edit the video and add effects like split screens, voice overs and transitions. I also used the internet to submit my video to my teacher.
